Britney Spears

Britney is one of the last teenage superstars of the millennium. She was born on 2nd December, 1981 Kentwod, Louisiana, USA. Her mother Lynne is a second grade teacher and dad Jamie is a building contractor. They also run a gym. Britney has an older brother Bryan and a younger sister Jamie Lynn. She was called by various nicknames like Pinkey, Bit-bit, or Brit. She is a natural born brunette but she has dyed her hair blonde. As a child she absolutely loved to sing and dance. She was great in gymnastics too and participated in many competitions. Britney also used to appear in local church choirs. When she was barely eight, Britney auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club but was turned down because of her young age. But that led her to being introduced to a New York Agent who enrolled her for the next three summers at the Professional Performing Arts School Centre. She appeared in a number of off-Broadway productions as a child actor, including Ruthless, 1991. She again tried for "The New MMC" at the age of 11 and this time made it as a mousekateer along side many stars of today Justin Timberlake, and J.C. Chasez of N*Sync).

Her breakthrough, however, was when she was signed on by Jeff Fenster of Jive Records in the late 90's. Jive Records groomed her expensively and employed top people for her debut album. Early 1999 Britney became an international success with the release of her debut album Baby, one more time selling 13 million copies. Oops, I did it again followed in 2000 May becoming a sophomore hit selling around 9 million copies.
