Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie was born in Los Angeles, California, June 4, 1975. She is the daughter of Academy Award-winning actor Jon Voight, and former actress/model Marcheline Bertrand. Jon Voight separated from Bertrand when Jolie was a year old. He remained in California while the family lived on the East coast. Angelina Jolie was the second of two children. Jolie is her middle name. Angelina lived in Palisades, New York, with her mother and brother James until she was ten, when they relocated to Los Angeles. She began to study acting when she was eleven at the Lee Strasburg Theater Institute. She joined the Met Theatre Group in Los Angeles and also worked in films directed by her brother.

At sixteen, Angelina moved across the street from her mother and immersed herself in theatre. Angelina worked as a professional model in London, New York and Los Angeles. She has also appeared in music videos for artists such as Meat Loaf, Lenny Kravitz and Rolling Stones. Her first feature film debut was a part in LOOKIN' TO GET OUT, a film co-written and co-produced by her father when she was just five. She landed her first feature film starring part in HACKERS, 1995, about a group of high school computer hackers. Previously, she had roles in independent features Gathering Evidence and Oh No, Not Her.

Angelina was married to her co-star from Hackers, Johny Lee Miller. Angelina ignored the customary white wedding dress and made a statement by wearing black rubber pants and a shirt that had inscribed across it, in blood, the grooms name. But they divorced in 1999.
